Wii's Button Count not set in Stone (errr...Plastic) Even though Nintendo has taken the Wii out for it's first test drive, they could still change up the button count on the controller. Shigeru Miyamoto relayed this nugget of speculation to IGN via translator:
"We're still debating on the area of how many buttons to use"
This is an interesting development, but after working for 3 years on this you would think they were wrapping it up. The Wii did ease some concerns at E3. "We started making this hardware from three years back, and while working, the staff worried whether this was the correct direction to take," he said.
Although the development team was relieved by the reception at E3, they still want to make sure it is the best it can be. There is no reason to think that the controller will change dramatically, but we do know that what we saw at E3 might not be the final product. Nintendo did some tinkering with the GameCube controller's layout at it debuted at E3, so this is par for the course for Nintendo. How everythingWii.net sees it: What else is new? How many times did you make additions or subtractions to a big paper you had to turn in? The only thing is, Nintendo gets to set the due date. Discuss this and other Rumors in the Forum
